The New Academy believes that creativity is essential to academic instruction. We embrace the use of traditional and non-traditional mediums to explore critical thinking processes and to enable our students to develop and integrate these processes into their learning experiences.
Our mission is to promote:
Observation - Learning to see the world with new eyes
- Envisioning - Learning to think outside the box to generate mental images to guide actions and solve problems
- Expression - Learning to articulate personal opinion and experience through various mediums
- Reflection - Learning to think about decisions made, to evaluative judgments and to be able to justify them
- Engagement and Persistence - Learning to work through frustration, take risks and learn from mistakes; learning to use "trial and error" to foster creative thinking and problem solving
- Self-evaluation - Learning to review and assess learning experiences to further growth
- Synthesizing - Learning to recognize pattens and apply them to other, larger perceptions
